I recently bought a cut signature of Bill Mosienko. The cut signature which is a hand written return address that Mr. Mosienko himself wrote on an envelope is taped onto a 3x5 index card. He is best noted for recording the fastest hat trick in NHL history. In a 1952 game against the New York Rangers, Mosienko scored three goals in 21 seconds.

Mosienko was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1965 and died in 1994.

The Edmonton Oilers were in town yesterday to play the Winnipeg Jets. The Oilers were one of the more elusive teams to come to the city. I only saw a few of the players throughout the day and lucky for me, most of them were the big stars of the team.  I didn't see Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, which sucked for me because I had a jersey I needed to get signed and chances are we probably won't see the Oilers in town for another 2 seasons if the Jets continue to play in the South-East Division. I also passed up the chance of getting Ales Hemsky and got Nikolai Khabibulin instead.  Nikolai was my favorite goalie when I was a kid. He played for the Jets 1.0 in the final two seasons.  Shawn Horcoff also blew off everyone and said that he would sign later.  Here are my totals for the trip:

Taylor Hall 1 photo

Sam Gagner 1 photo
Jordan Eberle 2 photos
Nikolai Khabibulin 2 cards
Magnus Paajarvi 1 photo, 2 cards (badly smeared)

I spent a few hours earlier this evening getting autos from the Tampa Bay Lightning as they were in town a day early to play the Winnipeg Jets.  I went to the local "Autograph Hot Spot". All in all it was a very successful night as I was able to get autographs from all the top Lightning players. Vincent Lecavalier did not make the trip, but I was able to start the evening by getting Steven Stamkos to sign a photo along with a card personalized to yours truly. I was also able to get Dwayne Roloson who stayed true to his "if you want my autograph you need to walk with me because I ain't stopping" twice this evening. Once going in to the hot spot and another coming out. Brett Connolly was very talkative and seemed to be a totally different guy than the one I met a few months ago. Brett signed 2 photos and 3 cards for me.  Martin St. Louis also signed a photo. I was even lucky to get current Winnipeg Jets player Randy Jones, who joined his former teammates this evening. Here is the totals:

Steven Stamkos - 1 photo, 1 card, 1 jersey (50/50)
Martin St. Louis - 1 photo
Dwayne Roloson - 2 photos
Matt Gilroy - 3 photos
Randy Jones - 2 photos
Brett Connolly - 2 photos, 3 cards

Wayne and Keith Primeau were in town this afternoon doing a free signing at a local restaurant called Santa Lucia. My lovely girlfriend was kind enough to take the time to get me some cards signed by both Keith and Wayne as I wasn`t able to take any time away from work today. According to my girlfriend, both brothers were super nice! Keith told her that he hates signing the O-Pee-Chee 91-92 card because he hates the tie he was wearing. She talked to them for a good 15 minutes about the city of Winnipeg and also the return of the NHL to the city. The Primeau brothers were in town to speak at a function. All the details are at this website .

The Philadelphia Flyers arrived at the hotel around 5PM today. The first player I was able to get was Jaromir Jagr who hasn't been in Winnipeg since the 95-96 season while he was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jaromir was pretty cool and signed for everyone that was there.  Ilya Bryzgalov was awesome and quite opposite of all the reports I read on autograph message boards. Bryz signed multiple autographs for everyone and even talked to us for a bit. At one of the autograph hot spots I was able to get autographs from Daniel Briere, Wayne Simmonds, Max Talbot, James van Riemsdyk, and Scott Hartnell.  Some of the other hounds got Brayden Schenn, but I held back after seeing him sign what appeared to be the letter "B".  I think the best bet is to send your stuff to Brayden c/o Flyers Skatezone rather than getting him in-person. There was no sightings of Giroux, Couturier, or Matt Read. Here are tonight's totals:

Jaromir Jagr 1 photo
Ilya Bryzgalov 2 photos, 1 card
Daniel Briere 1 photo
James van Riemsdyk 1 photo
Scott Hartnell 1 photo
Max Talbot 1 photo
Wayne Simmonds 2 photos

Let me first start by telling you that the Colorado Avalanche are probably the best signing team in the NHL. The numbers may not show it, but each player on the team is very accomodating when it comes to signing autographs. We started off the day getting former Vancouver Canucks goalie Kirk McLean who now serves as the goaltender coach for the Avalanche. Mr. McLean signed everything we had. Gabriel Landeskog, Matt Duchene, and Paul Stastny were also very cool and signed everytime we seen them throughout the two days. I don't think there is one jerk on the team. This was a huge difference from a couple of nights ago when the Bruins were in town.  Here are the totals for today:

Gabriel Landeskog 2 photos
J.S. Giguere 1 photo
Kirk McLean 3 photos
Ryan O'Reilly 2 photos, 1 card
Adam Deadmarsh 1 card
Milan Hejduk 3 cards
Cody McLeod 4 cards
Matt Duchene 2 cards
Paul Stastny 1 card

Just got back in from the hotel. I missed most of the team as I had to work all day. From what I hear, all the Avs are good signers. Big thanks to Jeff and The Resler for hooking me up with the photos to get signed! Here is what I was able to get today:

Matt Duchene 1 photo
Kevin Porter 2 cards
Ryan Wilson 1 card
Paul Stastny 1 photo

The Bruins have been by far the toughest signing team that has visited Winnipeg thus far. In the two times that they have been here this season, the best signers have been Milan Lucic and Tim Thomas.  This time around I was able to get a couple pucks signed by Lucic as well as a personalized 8x10 signed. Tim Thomas was really cool and signed for everyone there. Doug Jarvis signed a couple cards for me as well. Zdeno Chara, Brad Marchand, and Tyler Seguin ignored everyone as they did their previous visit to the city. All in all still happy to get these ones signed:

Milan Lucic 1 photo, 2 pucks
Tim Thomas 1 card
Doug Jarvis 2 cards

Last week I went to the Ed Kowalczyk show at Cowboys Bar here in Winnipeg. Ed played all of his hits from his days with the band 'Live' as well as some stuff from his solo projects. Ed played in front of a crowd of about 80 or so people. The show was great and well worth the $10 it cost to get in! After the show Ed signed autographs and posed with fans that stayed to meet him. I was able to snag a poster off the wall and get Ed to sign it with the Silver sharpie he was carrying around.
