The "Golden Jet" Bobby Hull was in town this past Saturday signing autographs at the Grand Re-Opening of a Canadian Tire store here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My son and I went down to Canadian Tire where about 100 or so people lined up to get the NHL Hall of Famer's autograph. Unfortunately my son and I couldn't stay, but my buddies John and Doug were able to get a couple 8x10 photos signed for us! Thanks guys, owe you big time! John told me that Bobby was in a great mood and was signing multiples for everyone that asked. Very happy to add these ones to the collection!

This morning I went down to CanadInns Stadium here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to get autographs from some of the players attending Winnipeg Blue Bombers mini-camp. A little less than half the team showed up for the 3-day camp. The official training camp opens up in 4 weeks. This morning I was able to get all the photos I had signed. Some of my U.S. readers might recognize most of the names either from their playing days in the NFL or NCAA. Canadian Football League players are by far the most approachable athletes I have encountered since I started collecting autographs 18 years ago. Every player in the league will sign whatever you have. The only player that was reluctant to sign was Andre Rison and he didn't last very long up here in Canada. All the players were super cool this morning and were more than happy to sign everything I had. A lot of the players asked me to bring them some photos when the camp starts, and I intend on doing so. Here is what I got this morning:

Jovon Johnson (Iowa Hawkeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers, CFL Defensive Player of the Year) - 2 8x10s
Johnathan Hefney (Tennessee Volunteers) - 1 8x10
Chris Garrett (Ohio University) - 3 8x10s
Deon Beasley ( Texas Longhorns) - 2 8x10s
Chad Simpson (Indianapolis Colts) - 3 8x10s
Kito Poblah (Central Michigan) - 2 8x10s
Alex Brink (Washington State) - 1 8x10, 1 4x6
Cory Watson (Winnipeg Blue Bombers) - 1 8x10
Joe Lobendahn (Washington) - 2 4x6s

Over the past 15 years I have been able to put together a pretty good collection of autographed photos, cards, pucks, helmets, etc. Lately I have been getting a lot of emails asking if I would be interested in trading any of the items I have acquired over the years. The answer is YES! I do trade and yes I do sell from time to time. I collect autographed cards and photos from all sports and even celebrities. If you have something that you think might interest me, please let me know.
I always try to get an athlete or celeb to sign 2 items (1 for me to keep and 1 for me to trade). The odd time I do sell an item. One thing I can say is that I have never made a profit from the hobby. If I sell something, its usually to cover some of the cost of the stamps, photos, cards, supplies, etc that I spend on the hobby. Most collectors like myself spend thousands of dollars each year trying to perfect their collection. I am no different.

If you are interested in any of the autographs that you see, please visit to see some of the items I am currently willing to trade or sell. You can also contact me on Sportscollectors.Net under the username: hockeyauto.

Happy Collecting! Go Flyers?!

I got home from work a few hours ago and was happy to find a package from my good buddy Mike from The Autograph Network. Mike and I have become good friends through the autograph hobby. Mike was kind enough to send me 2 awesome autographs! He sent me Manon Rheaume and Iron Sheik autographed photos. Mike is a class act and probably one of the most recognized collectors in the hobby. In case you haven't visited his site already, I strongly suggest to check out .  I am a member of The Autograph Network members only site. For $7.50 you can buy a 6 month subscription. Over the past few months that I have been a member, I have found addresses on the Members Only site that are not available on Sportscollectors.Net or Startiger.Com. Mike also uploads Youtube videos on a daily basis of his through the mail successes.
I'm not sure how Mike knew, but I have tried Manon Rheaume about a year ago with no luck so this is actually my first Manon Rheaume autograph. I am happy to add this one to the collection!
As for the Iron Sheik, that's another autograph I have wanted for quite sometime. I am a long time wrestling fan and Sheiky Baby is one of my top 5 all-time favorites. I can be heard quoting a few of Iron Sheik's lines from his infamous RFVIDEO shoot interview he did a few years back pretty often. Mike, can't thank you enough bro!

This past Saturday was the final regular season game for the Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning as both teams did not make the playoffs this season. This was also the final weekend for in-person NHL autographs for yours truly until later this year.  I did very well getting autographs as all the players were in great moods and probably looking forward to the off-season. Steven Stamkos scored his 60th goal of the season this past Saturday night. I got him after the game and he was happy to sign multiples as well as take pictures with everyone. Vinny Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis were also in a great moods.  I wish I could say the same for Dwayne Roloson, but it appears that he always has his game face on and doesn’t like to sign for fans at any time of the season. Guy Boucher laughed at the photo I got him to sign. Guy said “Looks like I’m giving him sh*t!”  Teddy Purcell signed everything as well.
The next day, I got the Winnipeg Jets as the cleared out their lockers for the off-season. All the Jets signed except the usuals that don’t which are Tobias Enstrom and Ron Hainsey. I was surprised to get Evander Kane for the first time all season. Kyle Wellwood also signed multiples for me. Alex Burmistrov, Ondrej Pavelec, Tim Stapleton, Blake Wheeler, Bryan Little, and Chris Mason are some of the nicest guys in the NHL! A friend of mine was even lucky enough to get a stick from Bryan Little.
All in all it was a great season for in-person NHL autos! I can’t express enough how happy I am to have the NHL back in Winnipeg! Looking forward to the 2012-13 season!
