Bill Proposed to Crack Down on Dealers Who Sell Fake Autographs

Great news for autograph collectors! A bill has been proposed to crack down on fake autographs that are being sold throughout the Internet and auction sites such as eBay. The bill is called AB 1570.

If you remember, a few months ago, Mark Hamill who is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, Tweeted out several fake autographs of himself found on the Internet. Many fans Tweeted him and were surprised to find out that the Mark Hamill autographs they thought they had, were indeed fakes.

If the senate passes the bill, autograph dealers in the state of California would be required to include Certificates of Authenticity.

Let's hope these COA's are reputable ones, and not cheap computer printouts.
